One of the residents of the South Wairarapa coast. Fur seals are often found around Tora (Te Awaiti) but should not be approached - not only are they a little tetchy, they are also very smelly! This chap lives with his mates in the colony at Manuwera Point, right in front of the bach Te Mahau Mahana.

Te Mahau Mahana is ideal for a romantic seaside hideaway or for a family beach getaway. Fully self-contained, spectacular views, situated at Tora (Te Awaiti) on the rugged South Wairarapa Coast.

The Tora bach is about 2 hours drive from central Wellington .

As you round Martinborough Square , turn left at Pain & Kershaws (the last place to stock up on provisions). Head south 1.8km to the Te Awaiti/Tora sign. It is left all the way now until you reach the bach….approx 46kms. On reaching the coast, turn left again along Te Awaiti Road  and Te Mahau Mahana is the first bach you reach … grey corrugated iron, on the left, Fire Number 141
